Here are a couple of large skill games that look like fun to build and play. First is this soccer game Tom Hammond made for his grandkids, based on a game called WeyKick Football. He used 1/2" rare earth magnets in the player bases and the control knobs underneath, and used whiteboard material as the playing surface.
Tom also tipped me off to a YouTube channel (LaMaisonDuBillard) with lots of wooden game ideas. Great stuff!

Ever heard of Carpet Ball? Bill Wilson made this one for his churchs youth group. It uses billiard balls that you try to sink into end pockets.
