Want to thank Don for taking the time to draw up this SketchUp plan for the sawhorse I made last week.

David LaNear sent over his Spring project, which is also a storage project. He bought the plans for this compressor cart online for $4 and modified it to suit his needs. Cost him about $75 to make.

Heres how David built his:

"The original plans had side openings for accessories but I wanted an enclosed area to keep dust and critters out. I added the removable tray and 2" to the storage. I used urethane caster wheels instead of the larger utility cart wheels. The original plans called for screws, glue and clamping. I used pocket whole screws and glue, instead. I also changed the hose hanger. Instead of a square hose hanger I made it curved. Also I made a little shelf under the hanger to store adapters I use more often. I used a stain/urethane to seal the wood."

Coffin SketchUp plans pallets and Halloween

A lot of you have been confused by the angles on Fridays coffin project. I admit that they are a little tricky. If I was making something "critical" I would certainly have stressed over them a lot more. As it turned out, my pallet boards fit together close enough for my slacker tolerances.
However, big thanks to "Wood Chuck" Bruce, who took the time to make a SketchUp file of the coffin, complete with actual angles! These plans are really good. I need to spend some more time learning SketchUp stuff beyond straight lines and square pieces!

Since Halloween is soon upon us, I thought I would share Neils version of my Skull and Crossbones candy dispenser from last year. He made a stand for his and added a little cup to collect candy.

Garden bench plans

A couple of updates on last Fridays garden bench. A lot of people have been asking for some plans and whatya know: a couple of people have helped!
First, Tim Sluder took the time to write up a cutting list, detailing everything you will need. Got a note from 14-year-old Marcus Vandendaele from Harrisonville, Missouri who has been woodworking for two years. He makes a variety of projects, but has been earning an income selling his hand made pens. Hes already sold over 60 of them!

One of the toughest parts of running a business is getting the word out about what you do. Marcus doesnt have a web site, but maintains a Facebook page and is encouraging people to like it by holding a giveaway. All you need to do is like his page by August 31 and hell randomly select three winners. Whats he giving away? These two pens and a keychain. Head over and support him!

And finally, heres something that may give you some more avian inspiration. Bill Wilson sent me over a picture of some wacky bird houses his uncle makes. (Another porch swing bird feeder in there too!) But I just love these houses. They remind me of Dr. Seuss.
