Hearts boards and a horse

Nighthawk sent over a picture of his version of my bent-wood Valentine candy box. He says it was a good way to earn bonus points with his wife and justify tool purchases. Read more about it on his blog.

Bill Wilson, always in the shop, tried his hand at his first cutting board. Since Ive made my first, family members are putting in requests for Christmas!

Wanted to also show off some very creative pieces by Vincent Fulton that remind me of highly stylized cutting boards!

Finally, I wanted to show you a new woodworker making videos. This is 10-year-old Matthew Agate  from Placentia, Newfoundland Canada, who built a rocking horse as part of Marc Spagnuolos Woodworkers Fighting Cancer charity build. A lot of people built these horses, but Matthew has to be the youngest. Nice work Matthew! Looking forward to more videos.

Valentines Eve batch of hearts!

Lots and lots of people have been busy making Valentine hearts! Here are some more that have been posted on my Facebook page this past week.Paul St George made this heart-shaped tea-light holder with a wood-burned rose for his wife. It kind of reminds me of my project this week!

Jason Weigles heart-in-a-heart display is made with white oak, African Mahogany, and walnut. He is going to finish it off with with a little plaque plate commemorating his wedding anniversary.

Sam Bittinger and his daughter worked together to make this tea-light holder.

I absolutely love Mitt Lilla Snickeris unique Yin and Yang heart. (There seems to be a tea-light theme running through this projects!)

And Im happy to show off  Lance Briggs version of the heart-shaped bandwaw box I made last week.

Hearts!

Valentines Day is right around the corner. Ill have something this Friday you can make. Until then, here are some heart-shaped ideas posted this past week on the WWMM Facebook page.Heres a swivel-lid box Andrew Stading made for his daughter. Hes included a video on the making of it too!
